EYESPACE CELEBRATES B CORP STATUS

Sustainability award-winning frame supplier, Eyespace, is celebrating becoming a Certified B Corporation™ (“B Corp“), further recognising and deepening its considerable commitments to social and environmental responsibility.

B Corporation is one of the most reputable and widely recognised certifications throughout industries worldwide and is accredited by B-Lab; a non-profit organisation building a movement to transform the global economy into a more inclusive, equitable and regenerative system.

Following an extensive 18-month assessment period in which they were required to answer and account for over 200 in-depth questions on sustainability, governance, employees, community and environmental impact, the leading eyewear company have been awarded the much-coveted accreditation, to the delight of founders Jayne and Julie Abel. Eyespace is one of the first major optical suppliers in the UK – and one of only 7,351 businesses across 92 countries – to have successfully achieved this qualification, furthering their commitments to lead the industry through positive change.

CEO and Co-Founder, Jayne, expressed her pride in announcing their most recent achievement, “This certification serves as testament to our unwavering commitment towards sustainability and strengthening the Eyespace culture and community as we work together to use business as a resoundingly strong force for good. We are delighted to be participating in a growing global movement striving for positive change, and to receive this recognition through B Corp, which is one of the world’s most stringent voluntary certifications for environmental and social impact, is incredibly rewarding for each one of our Eyespace colleagues.”

Eyespace stepped up their sustainability efforts in 2019 with their global Green Summits and the introduction of sustainable products within each of their collections. The company have since set specific environmental targets and are continuing their efforts in reducing Carbon Emissions to achieve Net Zero. They have been steadfast in outlining a fully comprehensive set of guidelines for the future which aims to elevate and expand their environmental commitments.

Product Director and Chief Sustainability Officer, Emily Andrews, added, “We are thrilled to join the B Corp community and hope to continue to drive the conversation forward. As a company we seek to infuse sustainable thinking into every area of our product and service offerings, thus ensuring our social, ethical and environmental practices lead the way”.

Over 300 SKUs now incorporate more environmentally friendly materials conforming to all the necessary ISO standards and there are plans to expand this to a remarkable 50% of the range over the next 3 years, which is no mean feat for a product index of over 1200 SKUs. This dedication affirms Eyespace’s ongoing efforts to promote responsible practices within the industry.

Positive social and environmental impact is something that a growing number of customers are looking for in their products, and Eyespace hopes that this status will resonate amongst their customer base, both in the UK and internationally.
