A New Direction

Our journey began over 25 years ago when we both entered the world of optics, and honestly speaking we've never looked back. I suppose you could say it's part of our genetic make-up or maybe things have come full circle. Either way we'd like to welcome you personally to our exciting new company eyespace and our debut website www.eyespace-eyewear.co.uk

I'm the Optom, Julie's the accountant, together we are passionate about bringing you design and quality at the best possible price. Meticulous attention to detail is at the heart of all we do. Our design team, who bring years of experience from the practice to optical houses worldwide, take inspiration along with their knowledge of trusted supply routes and quality materials to maximise detailing and fit.

But it's not just about us, more importantly it's about you and what you would like to see in your practice. We've listened to literally hundreds of practitioners nationwide and combined it with our 'know-how' to create over 420 styles with an 'intelligent' take on eyewear.

We are delighted that you've chosen to visit the Eyespace website today and hope you like what you see.

Best Wishes

Jayne and Julie Abel

Meet the board

The Eyespace board is unique to the industry being young with a vast experience across all areas of optics. Their combined expertise from all areas of the industry means that the direction of the company is always fresh and progressive.

John Walker has over 23 years experience in optics; working within sales for Optyl, Zeiss and International Eyewear on the North of England territory. For John, joining the board was a no-brainer; “the challenge of launching a new company really excited me. To be a Director and such a big part of the company was an opportunity I couldn’t resist.”

Mark Davidson has a combined experience of over 17 years in the optical industry working as a Regional Sales Manager for Scotland, North of England and Northern Ireland and previously as a Regional Manager for the high street multiples. His vast experience in the industry and passion for optics makes him an invaluable addition to the board.

In joining the board Alan Guider’s goal was to, “actively listen to the independent practice and be pro-active in bringing them a collection vastly different to everything else on the market”. With a primary focus in sales, Alan is drawing on his multi-faceted career; “I am incredibly proud to be part of the Eyespace board and be instrumental to the changes we are making to the optical industry”.

What's in a name?

By far the hardest thing we had to do when we set up the company was to choose a suitable name. We spent many a day and night scratching our heads and bouncing around names that would take us well and truly into the future of professional eyewear. From the very beginning we knew the name needed to be different, it had to be progressive, designer-led, ooze quality and it needed to mean something to people. So the search began. We looked high, we looked low, we looked to social media and then it literally came like a bolt out of the blue and we knew instantly that "eyespace" was just meant to be. Eyespace is the space on your face where your eyewear belongs, it's the space where you visually connect and it's a space we'd like to fill now and in the future.
